What is the Wyndham Learning Festival?
The Wyndham Learning Festival is an annual, series of events that provides opportunities for FREE learning activities across the City of Wyndham. The festival has activities for all ages and interests, promoting lifelong learning for all and welcoming new events, sponsors and participants to reflect this diverse and dynamic community.
Based on invaluable feedback and consultations with the Festival’s working group and the community, this year’s Wyndham Learning Festival will be a smaller and more curated experience. The Festival will take place 1-5 September 2021 and will have a limit of 55 curated events across the 5 days.
The theme Re-Emerge, Connect & Thrive was chosen as it reflects the challenges many in the community are currently facing.
As communities emerge from the difficulties suddenly faced in the COVID-19 world of 2020, we are hopeful that the Wyndham Learning Festival will provide a range of opportunities that meet the needs, interests and aspirations of most in the Wyndham community.
Previous Learning Festival activities have included cooking, pyrography, craft, hip hop dance, bowling, gardening, painting, cooking, lego construction, African drumming, creative writing, knitting, Spanish, ceramics, drawing, gaming, music therapy and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Participants have also joined in the Wyndham Park Party in the Precinct and Pop Up School, talked to the animals at Rhyme Time at the Zoo, heard inspirational stories of refugee survival and learnt about local Aboriginal culture.
The Festival encourages the community to get out and try new things in both formal and informal learning settings. This event is jointly run through a partnership between Wyndham Community & Education Centre and Wyndham City Council.
